I was just reading a resolved question that someone asked about her pup having acne, and some stated it was sometimes caused by plastic bowls. What exactly about them causes it?
Answer: plastic bowls are actually somewhat pourous and hold bacteria in them.
Its also common for dogs to have a mild allergy to the plastic, which irritates the skin even more.
Glass bowls are fine, but some animals have a hard time drinking water from them, expecially if you get clear glass.. its just harder for them to see.
I prefer stainless steel myself.
Answer: I hate plastic bowls for water. They get a scooge on them that actually can damage your animals immune system and give them bladder infections. I'm not familiar with puppy acne, but the compromised immune system could be what leads to it. I went to ikea and purchased some inexpensive glass mixing bowls that hold a fair amount of water, but are wide enough to be pleasant for my cats / dogs. Also, some plastic leaches chemicals into the water. I definately recommend glass bowls.
Answer: Plastic has petroleum in it and a lot of the time the petroleum seeps out. Just like plastic water bottles arent healthy for people and they should switch to steel. So I would strongly think that it is the petroleum in the plastic.
Answer: Sounds like puppy acne. It is more common if you feed out of plastic bowls but can occur even if you don't If not caused by the bowls most dogs will out grow it but some breeds are predisposed to having it on and off their entire live
Answer: Kitty is a really bright lamp to figure out that the original poster was asking about puppy acne…especially since the original poster STATED that it is puppy acne.
Nothing gets past Kitty…ROFL
Answer: Dogs can have a plastic allergy that can make their black noses turn pink. It can also contribute to pimples on the chin, although not cleaning their chin very well of food after eating can also make it worse.
Answer: Plastic bowls hold more bacteria I would use ceramic or stainless steel.
Stainless steel for food.
&nd
Ceramic for water.
Answer: I guess because plastic holds germs and bacteria and then your pet put its face in it each day putting that bacteria on his face. That's why I only use stainless steel bowls.
Answer: Plastic can harbor bacteria, viruses, mold unless bleached on a very regular basis..
Please invest in a good quality stainless steel bowl…It will last your dogs entire life….
