Consuming foods that are high in antioxidants will help our skin cells fight off bacteria that can cause acne.

The skin can become red and inflamed, developing pimples and blackheads, when we are not feeding our skin the proper nutrients. Acne may appear as a result of improper nutrition. So what can we do?

We can eat foods that contain nutrients that reduce inflammation that’s a result of acne. One powerful food is the acai berry. Acai is found in Amazon trees which are native to South and Central America.

Acai is loaded with anti-oxidants. Some believe it has more than double the anti-oxidants of blueberry, well known as a being loaded with antioxidants. It is believed that acai is slower acting, which means the antioxidants from acai will stay in the body longer than other antioxidants from other foods. Since the antioxidants stay in the body longer, they provide more benefits to the body.

It has also been said that acai can help prevent inflammation by inhibiting the inflammatory enzymes COX-1 and COX-2. Acai is a treatment to acne by reducing the inflammation caused by acne.

You can make a smoothie, drink the juice, or just eat some dried acai fruit. Check the product label to make sure you’re getting a high percentage of acai in the product.
